Grupo Artemisa Honduras is a grassroots group led by young lesbian and bisexual women of the city of Tegucigalpa. Founded in 2010, with the need to create spaces to meet, connect and collectively learn about gender and sexuality, and human rights, without the fear of being discriminated against. Through education and capacity-building aimed toward lesbian and bisexual women, low-income and marginalized youth, and Honduran society in general, Artemisa aims to generate changes in attitude in Honduras towards sexuality, human rights, gender equality and security of LBT women. Artemisa fue fundada en el 2010, con la necesidad de crear espacios para reunirse, conectarse y aprender colectivamente sobre derechos humanos, género y sexualidad, sin temor a ser discriminadxs. Artemisa busca generar cambios en la actitud en Honduras hacia la sexualidad, los derechos humanos, la igualdad de género y la seguridad de las mujeres LBT. Una estrategia que Artemisa utiliza es la educación y el fortalecimiento del activismo de las mujeres lésbicas y bisexuales, la juventud de bajos ingresos, y la sociedad hondureña en general. Su principal objetivo es el acceso a la información, el acceso a la justicia y el acceso a la libertad de asociación.

Founded in 2003, shortly after the election of former president Lula da Silva, when social movements leveraged political momentum, Coturno de Vênus was founded to ensure that ending lesbophobia and transphobia remained a priority for wider social justice movements.

They used to own a space called “Casa Roxa” where they provided shelter and counseling to lesbian women who needed support facing precariousness and violence. They held many activities and events at the space, which became the only space for lesbian women to gather. They’re committed to promoting lesbian visibility and the right to a dignified life, liberty, equality and security for all lesbians, while building an autonomous, democratic, pluralist, nonpartisan, anti-oppression, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-LGBTTIphobia and lesbofeminist movement.

The current leadership of the organization consists of women of different generations who identify themselves as lesbians. Its mission is to promote the holistic health of women, including LBT women, as well as advancing the human rights of women. It has a feminist strategy and works for the eradication of racism, self-determination and empowerment of women, the political participation of women in all their diversity and throughout their lives and the full exercise of their sexuality.

COTRAVETD promotes the social inclusion of transgender sex workers through advocacy, outreach strategies, campaigns to reduce stigma and discrimination, direct health services and programs for the empowerment of sex workers.

COTRAVETD was founded to bring visibility and respond to the human rights violations suffered by sex workers in the Dominican Republic, due to the total lack of visibility, services and justice suffered by this community. COTRAVETD promotes the social inclusion of transgender sex workers through advocacy, outreach strategies, campaigns to reduce stigma and discrimination, direct health services and programs for the empowerment of sex workers with the purpose of knowing and advocating for their rights. *** En Español*** COTRAVETD se fundó para traer visibilidad y responder a las violaciones de los derechos humanos de las que son víctimas las trabajadoras sexuales en la República Dominicana, debido a la falta total de visibilidad, servicios y justicia que sufre esta comunidad. COTRAVETD promueve la inclusión social de las trabajadoras sexuales migrates trans a través de defensoría, estrategias de visibilización, campañas para reducir el estigma y la discriminación, servicios directos de salud y programas para el empoderamiento de las trabajadoras sexuales con el propósito de que conozcan y aboguen por sus derechos.

Humanity First Cameroon is an association that fights against HIV/AIDS, and defends and protects the human rights of vulnerable people including the LGBTQ community.

Humanity First Cameroon is an association that fights against HIV/AIDS, and defends and protects the human rights of vulnerable people including the LGBTQ community. Grant supports the Women’s Gender and Leadership Unit, which organizes lesbian, bisexual, queer women and women who have sex with women (WSW), especially low-income women who haven’t had the opportunity to complete high school or higher education. They organize for increased recognition and mobilization of LBQWSW women in the Cameroonian LGBT and feminist movement. They provide trainings and advocacy actions aimed at women’s associations and human rights organizations to seek recognition of violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity. They have also previously engaged in sensitization programs targeting healthcare workers and are building a strategy to support women in developing their own revenue-generating strategies.

Institute TransAkcija is a young, feminist, grassroots trans NGO working to advance gender justice in Slovenia.

Institute TransAkcija is a young, feminist, grassroots trans NGO working to advance gender justice in Slovenia. Formed in 2014, they are the first and only trans group in the county. Their goals include addressing the legal and systematic erasure of trans and gender non-conforming people from legislative and social structures, raising visibility and awareness of transgender communities and issues, and building a strong transgender community with diverse leadership. In the short period of their existence, they have established themselves as recognized community advocates. In addition to their core psychosocial service provision and peer-support programs, host annual “TransMisija” conferences during Transgender Awareness Month, bringing together transgender community members, activists, NGOs, academics, professionals and government representatives. They have advocated to broaden regulations for legal gender recognition and achieve the inclusion of gender identity and expression protections in Slovenia’s anti-discrimination laws––the first time these personal circumstances have ever been considered in Slovenia. Recently, they worked with a Canadian trans filmmaker to produce a film called Transgender Life in Slovenia, which is now screening across multiple countries.

Its main goal is to promote dignity, respect and equality for LGBTQI people through trainings that adapt to different sectors and strategies of community creation.
